To: ALL MEMBERS
A Cold Water Policy will be in effect during the months of April and May, and from October 1st thereafter.
Sudden immersion in cold water is an immediate threat to life. Water temperatures below 8°C are very dangerous to enter and should be avoided if at all possible. While this policy covers early and late season water activity, there will be periods of time in June and September where water temperatures may be above 8°C and will still be of concern for safety reasons.
Effective immediately, the following rules shall apply:
- Guests are not allowed to use any watercraft while the Cold Water Policy is in effect.
- Paddling must be within 25 meters of shore. Paddlers must follow the shoreline out and back.
- There will be no lessons on the lake for any club activity while the Cold Water Policy is in
effect - Cold water protective clothing should be worn. At the very minimum, a tight fitting neoprene suit should be worn.
- Paddle with a friend(s) is recommended.
- Anyone on the water must wear a properly fitting government approved Personal Floatation Device (PFD), a functional whistle attached to the PFD and mandatory paddling gear. Three short whistle blasts will signal to others in the immediate vicinity your distress.
- Failure to follow the cold water policy may result in suspension and for repeat violations will result in termination of membership.
